Summary
As XUAS is currently not a legal non-profit organization, it cannot secure funding from contracts and grants. XUAS continued to rely on soliciting donations from its officers, Board of Directors and Advisers, and community members and the sale of table sponsorship at the annual Father’s Day fundraising event. A total of $23,751.71 was procured from these activities, and a total of $23,021.84 was expended. A net income of $729.87 remains. Click here for a copy of the general ledger.
Funerals (Sunshine Money)
XUAS contributed in the form of “Sunshine Money” towards 14 funerals, of which six funerals were members of XUAS while the other eight were not XUAS members. The total contribution was $2,900.
Other Functions (Parties and Events)
XUAS contributed a total of $1,175.00 towards 12 different functions. Eleven of these functions were parties sponsored by other community-based organizations that are similar to XUAS. The one function that differs from the other 11 functions had to do with supporting a health fair that was organized by the Hmong Youth and Parents United, Inc. (HYPU) and Southeast Asian Assistance Center (SAAC), currently called Sacramento Cultural and Linguistic Center (SCLC). XUAS donated $250.00 towards the health fair, which was held on September 26, 2019.
Father’s Day Event
The Father’s Day Event was held on June 1, 2019, at Holiday Villa. A total of $15,174.71 was raised, and $9,729.89 was expended. The net profit from this event was $5,444.82.
New Year Event
The annual Xiong United Association of Sacramento (XUAS) New Year Celebration was held on November 16, 2019, at Holiday Villa. A total of $8,577.00 was donated by members of the Officers and Board of Directors, Advisers, and community members, and $9,062.60 was expended. The net loss from this event was $485.60.
Political Campaign Contributions
XUAS supported Dai Thao of Minnesota’s campaign for a seat on the St. Paul City Council for $102.00, including fees.
